JAKARTA - The General Chairperson of the DPP National Awakening Party (PKB), Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin, gave firm instructions to all his party cadres to immediately respond to the collapse of the prayer room at the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Sidoarjo, East Java.

The tragedy that occurred on Monday (29/9) at around 15.00 WIB killed one student and injured dozens of others, after the three-story prayer room collapsed while the students were praying Asr.

Cak Imin's Quick Response: Mandatory Cadres Intervene

Cak Imin emphasized the importance of the presence of cadres in the community who are grieving, especially in the disaster that befell religious education institutions.

"I ask PKB cadres to come directly to the field, and assist the personnel and urgent needs of the affected students. If necessary, immediately build a public kitchen, deploy medical personnel, and make sure the logistical needs of the victims are met," said Cak Imin in his statement in Jakarta, Monday (29/9).

The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives views that pesantren is an asset of the nation and a center for the spiritual development of the younger generation that must be jointly guarded.

"Therefore, I hope this disaster can be handled in mutual cooperation, quickly, and precisely," he added.

Cak Imin also expressed his deep condolences to the extended family of Ponpes Al Khoziny.

"My deepest condolences for the tragedy that befell the big family of Ponpes Al Khoziny. Hopefully the injured will recover soon, and Allah SWT will provide strength and patience for all students, caregivers, and affected families," he concluded.

Data from the Head of the Surabaya SAR Office, Nanang Sigit, confirmed that this incident claimed one victim and involved 100 students as victims. A total of 79 students have been successfully evacuated.
