97 Bullying Cases In Bogor Become A Warning For The Young Generation

Deputy Mayor of Bogor, Jenal Mutaqin, said that so far there have been 97 cases of bullying in Bogor City, West Java, so it is necessary to get attention in handling this problem because it can damage the mentality of the younger generation.

Jenal said the problem was a serious concern for the Bogor City Government through the Satpol PP. Starting this year, the Bogor City Government has the Student Friends Satpol PP Program, My Buddy, Stop Bullying to prevent cases of bullying.

This program is a collaboration between the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Second Home Foundation, as an implementation of Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2021 concerning Public Order.

"Treatment anti-bullying has indeed been carried out a lot. Today the Satpol PP together with the second Home Foundation launched an anti-bullying program as a tangible form of the Tibum Regional Regulation," Jenal said, quoted by Antara.

In its implementation, students were given directions, then invited to understand forms of bullying, especially verbal which often became the beginning of cases.

According to Jenal, cases of bullying that occurred in Bogor City did not only occur between students, but also involved families and educators.

"The danger of bullying can damage the victim's mentality and hinder the acceptance of the education curriculum during learning activities," he said.

He emphasized that education about the dangers of bullying must be carried out thoroughly, both in the school environment and in the family, so that the number of cases does not continue to grow.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Second Home Foundation, Dewi Puspasari, revealed that the trend of bullying behavior in education continues to increase. In the last six years, bullying cases have increased by an average of 15 percent per year even though socialization has been intensively carried out.

"What's worrying is the unrecorded cases. In fact, many cases have emerged since the elementary school level," said Dewi.

Dewi added that bullying carried out by educators could also tarnish the good name of the school while creating an unhealthy learning atmosphere.

As a concrete effort, his party together with Satpol PP provide hotline center services via WhatsApp so that students dare to report. "There must be courage to speak, because most cases usually start from bullying," he said.
