China Warns Legitimate Palestinian National Rights Must Be Guaranteed In Post-conflict Government

JAKARTA - China warned on Monday that legal Palestinian national rights must be guaranteed in a post-conflict government.

This was conveyed when the number of countries recognizing the Palestinian State continued to grow, including during the High Level Week of the UN General Assembly session starting today.

"In principle, Palestinian-ruled Palestinians must be implemented, and legal Palestinian national rights must be guaranteed in government regulation and post-conflict reconstruction, a two-state solution must be enforced," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press conference in Beijing, quoted from Anadolu September 22.

"Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people, and is an inseparable part of the Palestinian territories," he continued.

"Anyway, the view that, given the current situation, a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza must be realized and a humanitarian catastrophe must be overcome with maximum urgency. Countries that have a special influence on Israel need to increase their responsibilities," Guo said.

On the occasion Guo expressed Beijing's willingness to cooperate with the international community to "stay committed to a ceasefire in Gaza, firmly supporting the Palestinian people's struggle to regain their legitimate national rights," and sought to achieve a comprehensive, fair, and lasting solution to the conflict.

It is known that Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal announced Palestinian recognition on Sunday, bringing the total number of UN member countries that have taken this step to 153 of the 193 United Nations member states.

Eleven other countries - including Malta, Luxembourg, France, Belgium and Armenia - have expressed plans to convey recognition of the Palestinian State in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly this month in New York, where world leaders will meet on Monday for a high-level debate.
