Not Disadvantaged By Palestinian Recognition, Netanyahu Promises To Continue To Expand Jewish Settlements In The West Bank

JAKARTA - Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu promised to expand Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank. This affirmation came after Britain, Canada, and Australia recognized the Palestinian state.

Netanyahu said he did not care about the efforts of the international community to try to awaken and put pressure on the Israeli government because it annexed Pelestina territory which clearly violated international law.

"For years, I have prevented the formation of this terror state despite great pressure both domestically and internationally," he said in a statement, quoted from AFP, Monday, September 22.

PM in coalition with Israeli radical far-right politicians in leading Israel stressed it would again expand illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank of the Palestinian territories.

"We have done so with political determination and wisdom. Furthermore, we have doubled the Jewish settlements in the West Bank and we will continue this step," he said.

For the efforts of big countries to officially announce the recognition of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, Netanyahu considered it a "gift" for the Hamas group.

Israel has just expanded its land route military operations to take over the entire Gaza City amid the death toll from hunger in Gaza rising to 303 people, including 117 children.

As of August 27, 2025, the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that 62,819 Palestinians have been killed since Israel carried out its military offensive to Gaza in October 2023.
