Discussion Of The Criminal Procedure Code Postponed, The Reason The DPR Is Still Receiving Community Input

Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dede Indra Permana, said that the discussion of the Draft Law (RUU) on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) would continue until the next session.

During the August-September 2025 session, according to him, Commission III of the DPR maximized it to receive the maximum aspirations from the public regarding the Criminal Procedure Code. Including, he said, visits to a number of areas carried out also scheduled to absorb aspirations about the Criminal Procedure Code.

"In principle, we are not in a hurry and avoid any parties being neglected in the preparation of the Criminal Procedure Code," said Dede when opening a hearing with the Ministry of Human Rights and Komnas HAM at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Monday, September 22.

In addition, according to him, so far there are still 22 elements of society who have volunteered to submit input on the discussion of the Criminal Procedure Code. He ensured that his party also made every effort so that all elements of society could be present in Senayan.

He also said that all political party factions in Commission III of the DPR RI are currently focusing on absorbing aspirations about the Criminal Procedure Code from the wider community.

"We will continue the discussion of the Criminal Procedure Code in a transparent, participatory, careful, professional, and open manner, in order to create a truly quality Criminal Procedure Code," he said.

He explained that the Criminal Procedure Code must be open in accepting human rights values that apply universally and must be implemented in the legal scope. According to him, law enforcement should not ignore human rights.

"Starting from the right to get equality before the law, the right not to be violated the principle of presumption of innocence, the right to be accompanied by advocates, and any right for their interests is in accordance with human rights values," he said.

Based on the draft schedule for the DPR RI Plenary Meeting for the First Session of 2025-2026, the DPR will enter a recess period on October 3-3 November 2025. Then the next session period will start on November 4, 2025.
