BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, held a mutual cooperation activity to clean up the Kali Sadang flow in West Cikarang District along with related cross-sectors in commemoration of the world clean-up day or World Cleanup Day (WCD).

He said the activity to commemorate World Clean-up Day in Bekasi Regency is expected not to stop at ceremonial actions only but to be the starting point in uniting the steps of the government, society and environmental activists in formulating real work programs.
"This WCD is a starting point for all of us to join hands to protect the environment. In the future, we will collect environmental activists to jointly formulate a more targeted work program to preserve the environment," he said.
He said that this social movement also involved the participation of students as the next generation with the hope that they had been given education early on and had the opportunity to be directly involved so that they could understand the importance of protecting the environment.
He assessed that collaboration with regional officials and local law enforcers is important to improve considering their duties as at the forefront of monitoring, controlling and preventing environmental pollution, especially related to waste and rivers.
"With the commemoration of World Cleanup Day, we really hope that this momentum will be a joint step to improve, with the involvement of all parties, in order to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable Bekasi Regency," he said.
