The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta, Christopher Cutajar, handed over Prime Minister Robert Abela's official letter to the Palestinian Ambassador to Malta, Fadi Hanania, who confirmed his country's decision to recognize the Palestinian State during next week's UN General Assembly in New York, United States.
In the letter, as reported by Malta Today, Prime Minister Abela reiterated Malta's "firm support" for the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Abela also ensured that the Maltese government would formalize its recognition of the Palestinian state at the 80th UN General Assembly.
