JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul revealed that his party is proposing an additional budget of more than IDR 4 trillion to support the development of the People's School program and various social assistance targeting vulnerable groups.

Gus Ipul said the proposed budget was submitted because a number of urgent needs had not been fully accommodated in the 2025 budget ceiling.

"We have proposed that there are indeed some that have not been accommodated. God willing, we will propose them again later, especially those concerning our duties and functions, such as budgets directly related to beneficiaries," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 19.

He gave an example, the support for almost 300 thousand orphans (YAPI) who currently receive assistance of Rp. 200 thousand per month is still not included in the budget allocation.

In addition, Gus Ipul also mentioned that the program to meet food needs for the elderly and people with disabilities that have been running also requires additional funds.

In addition, his party is also pursuing the target of completing 65 additional People's School units which will operate in a number of areas by the end of this month.

"This concerns the basic needs of residents who really need government assistance. Assistance like this is also a big concern for the President," he said.

Gus Ipul added that discussions about the additional budget had been carried out with the Ministry of Finance, Bappenas, and the DPR.

He hopes that new budget support can accelerate the operation of 65 People's Schools targeted to be completed by the end of this month, as well as expand the reach of social assistance for the most vulnerable groups.
