Regulations For Housing Allowances For Provincial DPRDs Throughout Indonesia Will Be Uniformed

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Basri Baco revealed the follow-up to the plan to reduce housing allowances for council members, which had previously been in the public spotlight because of fantastic value.

Baco revealed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) together with provincial DPRDs throughout Indonesia are still reviewing the rules and mechanisms for calculating the value of allowances to make them more uniform.

"It's being studied together, looking for the best way, the uniform is the plan. So it's not too much, Banten is a lot, it's Banten, it's DKI. This is planned to be uniformed," said Baco at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, September 19.

The discussion on changing the rules for housing allowances for the Provincial DPRD, continued Baco, is still in process. He claimed that the results of this allowance change did not dampen the role of the DPRD as a representative of the people in the regions.

"Reviewed for the best, the fortune from the council is in the sustenance of the constituents," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta DPRD Secretary Augustinus said DKI Jakarta DPRD Chairman Khoirudin would consult with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian to discuss plans to reduce the amount of housing allowances for council members.

Not only DKI, Augustinus revealed that hearings with Tito will also be held by other provincial DPRDs through the Association of Provincial DPRDs throughout Indonesia (ADPSI).

"The chairman (DPRD DKI) as a member of the All-Indonesian Provincial DPRD Association will have an audience with the Minister, together with the Chairman of the ADPSI. The schedule is tomorrow or next Monday," Augustinus told reporters, Thursday, September 11.

According to Augustinus, housing allowances with a high nominal value are not only accepted by members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. In fact, there are provinces with a larger value.

"The highest is not in DKI, the highest is first in Central Java. Central Java is up to Rp79 million, we (DKI) are Rp78 million. Therefore, the association will have an audience with the Minister for what is next for housing allowances for all DPRDs throughout Indonesia," said Augustinus.

The amount of housing allowance for the leadership and members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD has so far been stated in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 415 of 2022. This gubernatorial decree was signed by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

In Kepgub 415/2022, it is stipulated that the housing allowance for the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is IDR 78.8 million per month, including taxes. Meanwhile, the housing allowance for DKI Jakarta DPRD members is IDR 70.4 million, including taxes every month.
