2,000 Jabodetabek Ojol Will Visit The Palace, Ministry Of Transportation, And The DPR Today

JAKARTA - Thousands of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who are members of the Indonesian Guard Online Motorcycle Taxi Driver Association plan to hold a massive demonstration today, Wednesday, September 17, to coincide with National Transportation Day.

According to the plan, the mass of action will first gather at the Garda headquarters in the Cempaka Mas area, Central Jakarta, at 10.00 WIB.

From there, the action participants will move towards the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Transportation. The final wave is planned to arrive at the DPR/MPR RI building at around 12.00 to 13.00 WIB.

Igun estimates that the number of participants present reached 2,000 people from Jabodetebak. Of the total mass, around 100 to 200 drivers will carry out motorized convoys of vehicles, while the rest will take part in demonstrations at predetermined locations.

"Massa convoys 100-200 people, while the mass of action reaches around 2,000 ojol," said Igun.

In this action, ojol drivers carry out seven main demands that are considered to represent their aspirations.

One of the important points is to urge the Draft Law on Online Transportation to immediately enter the 2025-2026 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). In addition, they also demand a reduction in the cost cut from the applicator, which currently reaches 10%.

Other demands include fairer tariff regulations for goods and food services, as well as investigative audits of 5% of deductions allegedly committed by applicators.

Not only that, the drivers also asked the National Police Chief to immediately complete an investigation related to the tragedy that occurred on August 28, 2025.

A similar action has actually been carried out before. In early September 2025, ojol drivers also held demonstrations at the DPR/MPR building. At that time, they voiced the unrest of the wider community, ranging from the soaring prices of basic necessities to the difficulty of getting jobs.

Interestingly, in a peaceful demonstration on September 2, ojol drivers had carried out symbolic activities by distributing roses in the Monas area. This step was taken as a form of peaceful call as well as an effort to avoid provocations that could cause chaos.

Through a major action to be held, thousands of ojol drivers hope that the government, parliament, and all policy makers can listen and follow up on their aspirations.

The demands voiced are believed to be a step to improve online transportation regulations, protect driver's welfare, while ensuring service remains fair to the service community.
