Mataraja Train Changes Series To New Generation Starting September 28

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI will change the Matarumaja train related to Pasar Senen (pp) with a series of New Generation Economics. The series will officially operate starting September 28, 2025, coinciding with KAI's 80th Anniversary.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said the change in this series was very meaningful because all trains in the Matarumaja train were economic class.

"KA Matarumaja is the people's main choice train. With a series of New Generation, customers can enjoy a more comfortable and modern trip, with ticket prices that remain affordable," Anne said in an official statement, Sunday, September 14.

Anne said the series of modified results of Balai Yasa Manggarai presented a new travel atmosphere. The upright chair face to face is replaced by a captain seat whose slope can be regulated and the direction of the train.

"With a capacity of 72 seats per train, customers will experience a more ergonomic, relieved, and pleasant journey," he said.

KAI noted, from 2023 to 2025 Balai Yasa Manggarai has completed the modification of 124 New Generation Economic trains. Consisting of 12 trains in 2023, 60 trains in 2024, and 52 trains in 2025.

In line with that, the procurement of 612 Stainless New Generation trains from INKA also continues. Until now, KAI has received 31 trainsets or 336 trains out of a total of 56 trainsets that will operate in stages.

Anne said the transformation of the Matarumaja train is how KAI provides services that are closer to the needs of the community. With the New Generation Economics series, customers can enjoy more comfort, but still with friendly ticket prices in their pockets.

"We want to make sure Pasar Senen's long journey is a pleasant, safe and memorable experience for all customers," said Anne.
