KCM Fisherman Association Representative Says There Is No Compensation Due To Port Projects On The Cilincing Coast

JAKARTA - Muhamad Tahir as the representative of the Kalibaru association (nelayan) management, Cilincing, Marunda (KCM) said that fishermen have not yet received compensation from PT Karya Cipta Nusantara (KCN) regarding the concrete fence on the Cilincing coast.

"The provision of compensation to fishermen has long been said by the KCN. However, to this day, there has been no follow-up and realization," said Muhamad Tahir when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Tahir said that this was said by the KCN during a meeting with fishermen at the sub-district office last year.

"In our opinion, regarding compensation or CSR, it should have been regulated in the law for those affected," he said.

Tahir further said that the initial construction of KCN had indeed been realized through free cooperation and treatment training. It was done last year.

"However, to this day fishermen have never felt it again," he said.

Meanwhile, solutions related to the development of the KCN port for fishermen are no longer a matter of compensation and CSR.

"However, what is very urgent is making fishing ports for fishermen in the new times, cilincing and milinda. Like in the angke estuary, so that the fishermen's economy can be empowered," hoped the head of the technical field for human resources empowerment and the construction of the Kalibaru, Cilincing, Marunda (KCM) associations.

Previously, North Director of PT Karya Cipta Nusantara (KCN) Widodo Setiadi stated that he would pay compensation for fishermen whose income was reduced due to a port construction project on the coast of Cilincing, North Jakarta.

This compensation was given because the presence of a concrete wall that fences off the coast of the sea in the PT KCN area has recently gone viral on social media.

Widodo has not disclosed the nominal value of this compensation. He stated that he was still in the discussion stage with the fishing community and the local government.

"If the amount is we are determining, we are looking for the formula. But what is certain is that our CSR funds are routine for education and health that have been running so far," said Widodo, Friday, September 12, 2025.

As is known, the presence of a 3 kilometer long concrete embankment on the coast of Cilincing is widely discussed because it is said to make it difficult for fishermen to find fish. However, said Widodo, the company has started this port project since 2010 with the same method. He admitted that he was surprised why it has only been recently questioned.
