Polda Sultra Set 2 Corruption Suspects For Procurement Of Cruise Ships

JAKARTA - The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) named two people as suspects in alleged corruption in the procurement of the Azzimut Atlantis 43 cruise ship belonging to the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government (Pemprov).

The Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Inspector General Didik Agung Widjanarko, said that the two suspects were AS, who was the former Head of the General Bureau (Karo) of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Secretariat and the Director of CV Wahana with the initials AL, who was the provider of the cruise ship.

"The first suspect AS is the former Head of the General Bureau of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Secretariat and also the PPK (Commitment Making Officer), and the Navy Director of CV Wahana as the ship provider," said Didik Agung as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 12.

The two people were named as suspects based on legal facts and evidence that had been secured by police investigators.

The evidence that has been confiscated by investigators, tender documents, auction documents, contract documents, CV Wahana newspaper accounts, and one Azimut Atlantis 43 Cruise Ship, as well as several other pieces of evidence.

Meanwhile, from the results of the inspection or audit of the Southeast Sulawesi Representative Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), it was found that the state losses from the procurement of the ship were around Rp. 8 billion.

"The state loss in this case is worth more than Rp. 8 billion, a total loss," he said.

The two suspects were charged with Article 2 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended into Law Number 20 of 2001 Juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

It is known that the procurement of the Azzimut Atlantis 43 cruise ship is budgeted by the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government for the 2020 fiscal year with a total budget of Rp9.9 billion.
