JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded that residents were still worried about the potential smell of garbage that was still smelled when the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant Rorotan, North Jakarta, was operated in the future.
To reduce concerns from local residents, Pramono promised to invite them to review the RDF location to ensure pollution no longer occurs before it is finally inaugurated.
"I have asked those who operate, when operated, will invite residents to see firsthand. Because now improvements have been made," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, September 12.
Residents, continued Pramono, are welcome to see the condition of RDF Rorotan at the commissioning stage or testing the installation of waste processing facilities into alternative fuels.
Pramono ensured that emission control facilities such as filter bag equipment, wet electrostatic precipitator (WESP), pre-treatment WESP (second wet scrub), carbon activity, second ID-fan, and CEMS were installed when commissioning was carried out.
"I asked before the commissioning, yes, residents were invited to see. That what we promised, we have fulfilled it. Even including installing indicators for later smell and so on, I have asked for everything to be installed," explained Pramono.
Thus, the former Cabinet Secretary hopes that the DKI Provincial Government can inaugurate the second RDF Plant in Jakarta to be inaugurated in the fourth week of this month without any more rejections from residents.
"Actually, the target is this September. September 18, it can be commissioning. So this is just a commissioning, not yet. Improvements are being made, refined," he continued.
