JAYAPURA - Timika Search and Rescue Office (SAR) confirmed that pilots and passengers of the PK-IWS Intan Angkasa Air Service Helicopter that crashed in Jila District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua had been found dead.

Head of the Timika SAR Operations and Alert Sub-Section, Charles Y Batlajery, said the bodies of four victims of the PK-IWS helicopter crash had been evacuated to Jila to be flown back to Timika.

"The four victims have been found and confirmed dead. Our team is still at the scene," Charles said in Timika, Antara, Thursday, September 11.

He confirmed that all victims would be evacuated to Timika this Thursday afternoon for further processing.

The identities of the four victims of the PK-IWS helicopter accident belonging to PT Intan Angkasa are Eko Puja as the Pilot, Sudirman as a technician or helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) along with two passengers, namely Anto and Zulkifli.

To evacuate the victims, since Thursday morning as many as six personnel from the Timika SAR Office were flown to Jila using a helicopter belonging to PT Intan Angkasa.

When the SAR team arrived at the location, the condition of the unlucky helicopter was already on fire and was on the brink at an altitude of around 11,000 feet.

The Intan Angkasa PK-IWS helicopter lost contact on its way from Ilaga, Puncak Regency to Timika, Mimika Regency, on Wednesday, September 10 afternoon.
