JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has opened its voice about the existence of a concrete embankment in the marine waters of the Cilincing area, North Jakarta. The emergence of this embankment is in the spotlight on social media because it is feared that it will make it difficult for fishermen.
Director of Marine Space Utilization Control, Fajar Kurniawan, said that his party had verified the lapanhan in the area. Fajar claimed that the embankment did not make it difficult for fishermen to access to the sea.
"The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has carried out field verification regarding complaints from Cilincing fishermen. As a result, the project has complete permits and in the initiating field does not close access for fishermen," Fajar said in his statement, Thursday, September 11.
Fajar revealed that the concrete embankment belonged to PT Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN), a port business entity that operates a public terminal at Marunda Port, North Jakarta. The KKP has also issued an Approval permit for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (PKKPRL) for this activity.
"The development of a general terminal built by PT KCN itself is aimed at strengthening connectivity and maritime economic growth in Indonesia by providing modern and efficient logistics infrastructure," said Fajar.
However, Fajar emphasized that the KKP continues to monitor so that the implementation of activities according to permits and does not harm coastal communities. All port activities that are interpreted must run in harmony in accordance with the rules and responsibilities.
"For the KKP, the interests of fishermen and marine sustainability are the top priority," he said.

The video was recorded by a fisherman from the boat. You can see concrete with a length of 2 to 3 kilometers which seems to divide the waters on the north coast of Jakarta. The fisherman revealed that he had to go long to go to the ocean in order to find fish.
"The concrete embankment on the Cilincing Coast makes it difficult for coastal fishermen to pass. There are approximately 23 kilometers long. Initially, the crossing between fishermen made it difficult to find fish because they had to turn far away from the concrete embankment," said a fisherman in the video.
