Prabowo Instructs BNPB To Handle Bali And NTT Floods

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo Subianto instructed the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto to deal with flood disasters in Bali and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"This afternoon, President Prabowo has instructed the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and other relevant agencies to act quickly at the disaster site," Teddy said as quoted from the Cabinet Secretariat Instagram account (@secretariat.kabinet), Wednesday.

Seskab Teddy said that the Head of State also emphasized the importance of distributing aid quickly and on target.

On President Prabowo's orders, the Head of BNPB immediately left for Bali on Wednesday afternoon, to directly lead the handling of emergency response and ensure search and rescue efforts, as well as fulfill the basic logistics needs of affected residents.

"Previously, BNPB had handed over initial assistance in the form of rubber boats and engines, refugee tents, food packages, mattresses, blankets, alkon pumps, to other funds and support as needed in the field," said Seskab Teddy.

Teddy also said that President Prabowo was sorry for the floods that hit several areas in the two provinces.

A number of areas in Bali experienced flooding after heavy rainfall flushed on Wednesday. The Denpasar City Government, Bali, has officially declared a flood emergency response status.

In addition, flash floods also occurred in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
