DPR Leaders Encourage Commission V To Follow Up On Conclusion Results Of Meetings With The Ministry Of Transportation

JAKARTA - The leadership of the DPR RI encourages Commission V of the DPR to immediately follow up on the conclusions of the meeting with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). One of them is about accelerating the discussion of the Online Transportation Bill which provides protection for online drivers (ojol).

This was conveyed by the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Saan Mustopa after receiving an audience with an online transportation union at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 9.

Commission V of the DPR has also discussed ojol's insistence on reducing the cost of application services to 10 percent through the revision of the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KP 1001 of 2002.

"Earlier we heard from all associations, online union associations, they conveyed the first issue of legal umbrella for them. In the term they have a legal umbrella vacuum and they want a legal umbrella that can provide protection for online workers. Now the legal umbrella can be in the form of a law and he also asked for it or in the form of a Presidential Regulation," said Saan.

Saan said, in the Presidential Decree or Law, it is proposed that there are rules related to social security. For example, social security related to accidents.

"And we are from the DPR, earlier Mr. Dasco has committed to conveying it to the government regarding the Presidential Decree, especially to the president," he said.

Regarding the law, said Saan, later the DPR, in this case Commission V of the DPR, because it is a partner of the Ministry of Transportation, will follow up on requests from ojol.

"And also in Commission V there is a discussion related to the law, whether this is a separate law, online transportation or for example being part of a law that is indeed in the Prolegnas which is being processed in commission V. We'll see developments later," said the NasDem politician.

Saan said the leadership would encourage Commission V of the DPR to immediately follow up on the results of the meeting with the Ministry of Transportation regarding the request for ojol and its legal umbrella.

"Yes, at that time there was one conclusion, the results of the meeting between the Ministry of Transportation and Commission V were related to the online worker issue, and later we will check again," he said.

"We will push back the results of the conclusion of the commission V working meeting with the Ministry of Transportation so that the conclusion can be followed up quickly so that these online unions can get faster legal certainty," said Saan.

As is known, Commission V DPR RI held a working meeting with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) on Monday, June 30. The meeting, chaired by the Chairman of Commission V DPR RI, Lasarus, discussed the fate of the online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) who recently voiced a protest against the applicator.

In this case, the Ministry of Transportation, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Transportation (Wamenhub) Suntana, is currently reviewing a number of regulatory demands filed by ojol partners. One of them is related to the 20 percent commission rate cut at 10 percent which is charged to ojol partners.
