Haven't Decided On The Nominal For The Downgraded Housing Allowance, DKI DPRD: If It's In A Hurry, It's Wrong Again

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD plans to reduce the nominal housing allowance for its members after causing turmoil in the community. Currently, the DKI DPRD housing allowance is IDR 70 million to IDR 78 million per month.

However, Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Basri Baco admitted that until now the DKI DPRD has not decided on the nominal value of the housing allowance to be lowered.

"The point is we agree first that it is ready to be evaluated. However, caution is needed. It is impossible to rush, it can't be rushed. If you hurry, you will be wrong again," said Baco at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, September 8.

Baco claims there is no dynamic between the DKI DPRD factions regarding the discourse of decreasing housing allowances. All party factions have agreed.

However, the DPRD is still discussing changes or revisions of allowances with relevant stakeholders before the nominal is agreed.

"It is being discussed so that we can get results that really comply with the provisions and expectations of the community," said Baco.

"Instead of later there will be revisions many times, it's better if we prepare carefully so that it is complete," he continued.

Previously, a group of people calling themselves the Democracy Social Care Student Alliance held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Thursday, September 4.

After the DPR was demonstrated regarding the increase in housing allowances for Senayan parliamentarians, now the DKI Jakarta DPRD is in the spotlight with similar issues.

The action, which lasted about an hour, attracted the attention of the council members. A number of representatives of the mass action were then invited to an audience.

During the meeting, representatives of the alliance objected to the amount of housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members which were considered too high and not comparable to the economic conditions of the community.

Responding to this, Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Basri Baco admitted that members of the council from all factions agreed to comply with the demands.

"We are ready to evaluate the housing allowance according to the current conditions and situation and in accordance with applicable regulations," said Baco at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Thursday, September 4.

The amount of housing allowance for the leadership and members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is contained in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 415 of 2022. This gubernatorial decree was signed by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

In Kepgub 415/2022, it is stipulated that the housing allowance for the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is IDR 78.8 million per month, including taxes. Meanwhile, the housing allowance for DKI Jakarta DPRD members is IDR 70.4 million, including taxes every month.
