The Quarrel Was The Trigger, Captain Inf J Was Chased By PM Praka With An Ax Until Finally Opened Fire

JAYAPURA - A shooting incident between members of the TNI occurred in Kali Mo ( Kali Pandang 2 Hamlet), Waris District, Keerom Regency, Papua, Sunday morning. A soldier, Praka PM, died after being shot by his colleague, Captain Inf J.

Keerom Police Chief AKBP Astoto Budi Rahmantyo said the incident started with an argument between the two.

"The motive for the fight is not yet known, but the dispute ended when the victim chased the perpetrator with a small ax. The perpetrator felt threatened and fired three warning shots. One shot hit the victim's head and died on the spot," said Astototo through the Head of the Waris Police Ipda Mirwan, Antara, Sunday, September 7.

After the incident, the police immediately went to the location to provide security. The police also coordinated with community leaders and victims' families to prevent security disturbances around the area.

Captain Inf J has now been secured by the Military Police of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih along with the Sig Sauer P224 firearm used in the incident.

The Keerom Police emphasized that quick steps were carried out, either by maintaining conduciveness in the field or ensuring that the legal process was carried out.

“Pelaku telah diamankan oleh Polisi Militer di Jayapura untuk menjalani proses hukum sesuai ketentuan yang berlaku,” ujar Mirwan.

"The perpetrator has been secured by the Military Police in Jayapura to undergo a legal process in accordance with applicable regulations," said Mirwan.
