Light Rain Is Predicted To Pour Most Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The weather in most parts of Indonesia is predicted to experience light rain on Saturday, September 6.

BMKG forecaster, Satriana Roguna said that starting from Sumatra Island, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy for Banda Aceh City, while the Padang and Tanjung Pinang areas are forecasted for light rain.

"The city of Medan is forecasted to rain with moderate intensity, and be aware of rain that can be accompanied by lightning in the Pekanbaru area," he said, quoting Antara.

Still on the island of Sumatra, the weather is predicted to be thick cloudy for the Bandar Lampung area, while Jambi and Pangkal Pinang are forecasted for light rain.

"Be aware of the heavy rain that can occur in Bengkulu City and rain that can be accompanied by lightning in the Palembang area," said Satriana.

Turning to Java, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy for the areas of Yogyakarta and Surabaya, as well as light rain for the cities of Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, and Semarang.

Moving to the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the weather is predicted to be cloudy for Kupang City, while the Denpasar and Mataram areas are forecasted to be thick cloudy.

Furthermore, shifting to Kalimantan Island, light rain is forecasted in the Samarinda area, while Tanjung Selor is forecasted to rain with moderate intensity.

"Be aware of rain that can be accompanied by lightning that can occur in Pontianak City, Palangka Raya, to Banjarmasin," he said.

Then, for Sulawesi Island, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy in the Makassar area, light rain for the Manado and Kendari areas, while the cities of Palu and Gorontalo are forecasted to rain with moderate intensity.

"Be aware of the potential for rain that can be accompanied by lightning that can occur in the Mamuju area," he said.

Moving to eastern Indonesia, the weather in Manokwari City is forecasted to be thick cloudy, while the cities of Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Merauke are forecasted for light rain.

"The city of Nabire is forecasted to rain with moderate intensity," said Satriana.

High waves of 2.5-4 meters are also predicted to occur in the western Indian Ocean region of the Mentawai Islands to Bengkulu, the western Indian Ocean of Lampung and the southern Indian Ocean of Bali to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

BMKG also warned of the potential for tidal flooding in the Riau Islands Coastal areas, Bangka Belitung Islands, Central Java, East Java, Central Kalimantan, and Maluku.
