Ridwan Kamil's Mercedes Is Still Nyicil, KPK Is Looking For Asset Recovery Solutions

JAKARTA - Ridwan Kamil or RK apparently still has not paid off the payment for luxury cars which are now evidence of alleged corruption cases.

The four-wheeled Mercedes-Benz 280 SL vehicle has previously been confiscated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the investigation of the case that dragged the former Governor of West Java.

The KPK spokesman, Budi Prasetyo, explained that his party is currently looking for the best solution so that the asset recovery process does not encounter obstacles.

"Because based on the investigator's statement, the car payment has not been completed. So that there are no obstacles when auctioned, investigators are still investigating the position of the evidence to optimize state assets," he said in Jakarta as quoted by ANTARA.

Budi added, if there are parties who want to return to own the historic car that was recorded on behalf of the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia, B. J. Habibie, then the mechanism that must be taken is through the KPK's official auction.

Even so, he emphasized that currently the vehicle is still being confiscated in the case of alleged corruption in the advertising procurement project at the West Java and Banten Regional Development Banks (BJB) for the 2021 '2023 period. The final status of the car will be waiting for the judge's decision.

"If the panel of judges decides to be confiscated for the state, then the car can be auctioned or use other mechanisms so that its value can be converted into money that goes into the state treasury," explained Budi.

In this case, the KPK on March 13, 2025 has named five suspects. They are Bank BJB President Director Yuddy Renaldi (YR), Head of the Division of Corporate Secretary and Commitment Making Officer Widi Hartoto (WH), as well as three controllers of the advertising agency, namely Ikin Asikin Dulmanan (IAD), Suhendrik (Suh), and Sophan Jaya Kusuma (SJK).

Investigators suspect that the corrupt practice caused state losses of around Rp222 billion.

Previously, on March 10, 2025, the KPK team searched Ridwan Kamil's house and confiscated a number of items, including motorbikes and several cars. However, as of Friday (5/9), it was recorded that 179 days after the search, the KPK had not yet summoned Ridwan Kamil for inspection.
