Audience With DPR Leaders, Head Of BEM UI Demands The Establishment Of A Makar Alleged Investigation Team

JAKARTA - The leadership of the DPR RI received student representatives in order to listen to the aspirations and demands of the community during the demonstration held last week. The Student Executive Board from the University of Indonesia (BEM UI) demanded the formation of an investigation team related to the alleged treason submitted by President Prabowo Subianto.

The audience of the leadership of the DPR and the student alliance was led by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Saan Mustopa and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal. The audience was held in Abdul Moeis Room at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 3.

Head of BEM UI Agus Setiawan said that the presence of the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) at the DPR building today is a form of student love for the various conditions of the nation today.

"Actually last night, we took a moment of self-reflection, because we are very sad to see the dynamics of the nation today, how come it seems that it actually harms us as part of the citizens. Therefore, I made a note of Indonesia's reflection today with the title 'Saving Democracy and Enforcing Civil Supremacy'," said Agus in front of the leadership of the DPR.

Agus then brought up the national situation recently, especially during August 2925 where there was a multidimensional crisis that included legislation, social democracy and the security sector.

"We saw demonstrations taking place at various points and we from the student group had time to go down to the streets, especially when we received news that a friend of ours had received repressivity rather than law enforcement at that time, Affan Kurniawan was the victim of death from law enforcement officers who seemed intentional, and this is what sparked our sense of humanity to be present on the streets," explained Agus.

Gradually, Agus said, a statement from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emerged that there were allegations of treason from various actions that might have been provoked by some individuals. According to Agus, this presidential statement hampered the student movement from taking to the streets.

"Because we are worried that our movement today will actually be ridden by some of these individuals, but on the other hand I also cannot continue like that. So then in this forum I hope that Mr. Sufmi Dasco, Mr. Saan Mustofa, Mr. Cucun, colleagues from the media and all students who are present here, I want an independent investigation team to thoroughly investigate the various violence that occurred throughout August," said Agus.

"Also with the alleged treason that came out of the mouth of Mr. President Prabowo Subianto. We want to investigate this and thoroughly investigate everything so that what the President said can be proven. Because we from the movement feel disadvantaged by the statement which then hinders our movement in the future," he continued.
