Local media reported that nearly 10,000 people had been evacuated to refugee camps set up by the government along major highways as a precaution for those living in lowland areas.
Residents living along the Yamuna River in Delhi were also evacuated in 2023 after floods entered their homes and the river hit its highest level in 45 years.
