KPAI Responds To Student Incidents From Tangerang Died After Demonstration At The Indonesian House Of Representatives

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) highlighted the death of Andika Lutfi Falah (16) a student from Tangerang Banten who was a victim of demonstration riots in the DPR RI area, Central Jakarta on Thursday night, August 28, 2025.

Andika has been undergoing intensive treatment at Dr Mintoharjo Hospital, Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta since Friday, August 29.

Andika suffered severe injuries to the inside of the head that was already in the critical category. Her skull burst, suffered a brain hemorrhage, and this was discovered after CT-Scan was carried out. Even before CT-Scan, Andika fell into a coma, and her heartbeat had stopped.

Then, Andika died from bleeding in the brain on Monday, September 1, 2025.

"If there is an element of violence, it is clear that in accordance with the Child Protection Law it must still be processed because it is the right of the child," said KPAI Commissioner, Diyah Puspitarini when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

The teenager from Pematang Village, Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency, Banten is a student in the 11th grade of Vocational High School (SMK) Negeri 14 Tangerang Regency.

KPAI immediately intervened in response to the sad news of the death of the minor.

"This morning I went to Amanda's house (victim). We make sure to meet with my family (to take the next legal step)," he said.

Meanwhile, from the statement of the brother, Pangestu, that night, the situation was not conducive around the DPR RI. The police bombarded the masses with tear gas.

Andika was separated from the group, fell due to difficulty breathing, and was suspected of getting abuse from the authorities.

"The information is that tear gas is thrown everywhere, that's because my sister's position is at the forefront or something, I don't know. There, the position of the police is close to the masses, the masses can be the same as the police, the masses are beaten. My sister was hit by tear gas, and maybe my sister fell, basically there was violence that resulted in external injuries, only bruises, it turned out that after being checked, she was traumatized by different bluntness, which caused headaches and bleeding in the brain, that was her position without an identity," said Pangestu.
