Immanuel Ebenezer Claims Cell Phone Found by KPK On His Ceiling Belongs to His Maid

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer stated that four cellphones found by investigators in the ceiling of his house did not belong to him.

This statement was made by Immanuel Ebenezer after undergoing questioning at the KPK's Merah Putih building in Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 2. He claimed the cellphones belonged to his maid.

"Those are my maid's cellphones," Noel told reporters.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the cellphones found in the ceiling of Immanuel Ebenezer's house on Tuesday, August 26.

Investigators searched the residence of the former deputy minister in President Prabowo Subianto's cabinet after conducting a sting operation some time ago.

"Investigators found four cellphones in the ceiling of the house in question," Budi stated at the time.

This finding will then be investigated further. In addition to extraction, Budi stated that investigators will certainly question the purpose of the cellphones being stored in the ceiling.

"Whether they deliberately hid the phone or whether they actually placed it on the ceiling, of course, that will also be questioned during the investigation process," he said.

As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named 11 suspects in connection with alleged extortion for occupational safety and health (K3) certificates. This arrest began with a sting operation that netted 14 people, including Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer.

 

The following is a list of suspects named by the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK):

 

1. Irvian Bobby Mahendro as Coordinator of Occupational Safety and Health Institutional and Personnel Affairs for 2022-2025;

2. Gerry Aditya Herwanto Putra as Coordinator of Occupational Safety Competency Testing and Evaluation for 2022 to present;

3. Subhan as Sub-Coordinator of Occupational Safety, Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety Development for 2020-2025;

4. Anitasari Kusumawati as Coordinator of Partnerships and Occupational Health Personnel for 2020 to present;

5. Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan as Deputy Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia for 2024-2029;

6. Fahrurozi as Director General of Manpower and Health Supervision from March 2025 to present;

7. Hery Sutanto as Director of Institutional Development for the 2021-February 2025 period;

8. Sekarsari Kartika Putri as sub-coordinator;

9. Supriadi as coordinator;

10. Temurila from PT KEM Indonesia; and

11. Miki Mahfud from PT KEM Indonesia.

The suspect determination began with an intensive investigation and the discovery of two pieces of evidence following a sting operation. It is suspected that the extortion had been going on for a long time.

This suspicion arose from the large amount of evidence found, including 15 cars and 7 motorcycles, as well as Rp170 million and US$2,201 in cash.

Furthermore, Immanuel Ebenezer was removed from his position as Deputy Minister of Manpower by President Prabowo Subianto. This decision was taken after the legal status was announced by the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) and conveyed to the public by Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi.
