Attorney General Ensures South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office Continues To Search For Convicts Of Silfester Matina To Be Executed

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin ensured that the South Jakarta District Attorney (Kejari Jaksel) was still looking for the convict in the alleged spread of slander against former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Silfester Matina, to be sentenced to prison.

"We've actually asked and we're looking for it," said Burhanuddin at the Attorney General's Office Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 2.

Answering the media crew's question about the seriousness of the Silfester search, Burhanuddin emphasized that the prosecutor's office did not remain silent.

"Yes. We're looking for it," he said.

Silfester Matutina, who served as General Chair of the Red and White Solidarity (Solmet), was found guilty of alleged slander against Jusuf Kalla in 2017. He was sentenced to 1 year in prison by the first instance court.

However, after filing an appeal, the Supreme Court at the cassation level increased its sentence to 1.5 years in prison.

Until now, Silfester has not been executed to serve the sentence.

In mid-August 2025, Silfester had submitted a request for a review (PK) to the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

However, he was unable to attend the PK trial on the grounds of illness. South Jakarta District Court judges assessed that Silfester did not seriously take advantage of its rights, so that the PK application was declared null and void.
