"Even in the Geneva convention, which regulates war, if an enemy surrenders and is helpless, it must be protected," explained the legislator from the Banten I electoral district.

They stated that the demonstration situation in Yogyakarta was clearly not a battlefield. That way, protection for students should be a priority.

"The situation in Yogya is not a war, so the protection of students must be a priority. Police officers are prohibited from expressing their emotions by molesting students. No reason whatsoever can justify these acts of violence," saidOK.

Badminton also urged that Rheza's death case be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators of the persecution must be held accountable before the law. He also emphasized the importance of compliance with the SOP for crowd control.

"The perpetrator of the persecution of Rheza must be held accountable before the law. No more deaths will fall, this applies to both parties. Police officers must comply with the SOP for controlling the masses in demonstrations," saidten.

The member of the PDI-P (PDIP) faction also called on all parties to exercise restraint and maintain peace. Then also asked law enforcement to be carried out fairly so that a similar tragedy does not happen again.

"Let's maintain peace in our country by hearing what the people and students sound. To law enforcement officials, let's also make sure the law is enforced fairly," he concluded.

It is known, Rheza Sendy Pratama (21), a student of the Communication Sciences Study Program at Amikom University died while participating in a demonstration at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters. Rheza, who is a student of the 2023 class, is known to have died on Sunday, August 31, morning full of wounds.

The late Rheza's father, Yoyon Surono, said his son on Saturday, August 30, said goodbye to leave the house for coffee with his friend. But in the morning Yoyon received news from neighbors while showing Rheza's ID card that his son was being treated at Dr Sardjito Hospital for being hit by tear gas.

But when he arrived in Sardjito, Yoyon found his son lying down. Rheza is said to have been delivered to Sardjito by the DIY Police health unit.

Meanwhile, through the official Instagram account of the DIY BEM Forum (@forumbemsediy) which was also re-shared by the official BEM account of Yogyakarta Amikom University, the chronology of the death of Rheza Sendy Pratama was conveyed.

BEM DIY explained that Rheza participated in the demonstration echoing in Yogyakarta. When the situation started to chaos, Rheza's motorbike suddenly died when it was about to turn around.

Unfortunately at the same time the officers fired tear gas, causing Rheza to fall. A colleague who was carried managed to escape to save himself.
