SERANG - Banten Police Chief Brigadier General Hengki will bridge the dialogue between the victim's family and the suspect in a traffic accident involving student Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta), Yosmaida Sophia Saldina (20), so that the settlement can be reached through a family route.

"The victim is still sick, still being treated. Later we will meet, we will find a way. How is the solution," said Hengki as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, August 31.

He emphasized that the legal process would continue according to procedures.

"The legal process carried out by Kasatlantas against community mistakes is in accordance with the procedure. It has fulfilled two pieces of evidence, but the victim is still being treated," he said.

Even so, Hengki opened a restorative justice room if both parties agreed.

"If the victim forgives, there is a responsibility from the suspect to finance treatment, maybe we don't know. Later we will bridge it, by the police chief and Kasatlantas," he said.

According to Hengki, student representatives who complain about this case will be accepted for dialogue.

"Their complaints are what they want, of course we will convey them to the victim as well," he said.

Previously, the Serang City Police Traffic Unit named Yosmaida as a suspect in an accident that occurred on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Serang City, on April 22, 2025.

He was charged with Article 310 paragraph (3) of the Traffic Law because his negligence resulted in the victim named Hasanuddin (HS) being seriously injured.

Head of Gakkum Ipda Dedi Yuanto said the status of the suspect was determined after restorative justice efforts were deadlocked.

"We have facilitated restorative justice efforts from the start, but both parties have not found a common ground," said Dedi.

Despite being a suspect, Yosmaida was not detained and was only required to report.

He admitted that it was difficult to meet the demands for medical expenses requested by the victim's family to reach tens of millions of rupiah.

The victim is still recovering from head injuries and post-accident cognitive disturbances.
