Viral Video Of Demonstrators Allegedly Shot By Rubber Bullets In Front Of The East Jakarta Police Headquarters, This Is A Police Explanation

JAKARTA - A video recording has gone viral on social media regarding mass clashes with police officers that took place in front of the East Jakarta Metro Police office on Saturday morning, August 30, 2025.

Based on the video footage circulating, the mass group managed to push to the front of the East Jakarta Police Headquarters fence. The clash occurred right in front of the Alia Matraman Hotel which is directly adjacent to the East Jakarta Metro Police.

The mob, which was dominated by the young man, became involved in attacking each other with the Police on guard. In the video footage, several youths can be seen directing firecrackers at the officers and throwing stones, then greeted with tear gas shots.

The youths also carried wood with red and white flags. They continued to fly the flag when the clashes occurred. But when the crowd suddenly ran back, a man in a white shirt who was previously on the front line suddenly fell to the asphalt.

"Wua was shot again," said the voice of the alleged video recorder of the incident.

The man in a white shirt fell face down on the asphalt. No one evacuated him. Meanwhile, the police officers who approached the man actually hit him with the stick he was carrying.

"It's really scary. It's terrible, scary," he said.

The clash continued until Saturday before dawn. Until the video recording ended, the man who fell on the paved was not evacuated.

Meanwhile, according to VOI sources, during the clash, two demonstrators were arrested by the police in front of the East Jakarta Police Headquarters.

"Two (secured), one hit by a rubber bullet was hospitalized," said the VOI source.

Meanwhile, when VOI confirmed to the East Jakarta Metro Police, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKBP Dicky Fertoffan denied that someone had been shot.

"No one has been carrying weapons since last night. There is no (shot)," he said when confirmed by VOI, Saturday, August 30, 2025, afternoon.

"Just ask the upload (video uploads on social media Instagram). Instead of the sound of bullets, I heard the sound of the narrative being shot," he said.

He emphasized that no one was shot in a clash on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, regarding one demonstrator who was arrested by the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Dicky said that he had been released.

"It was returned in the morning (Saturday morning) with his family, a resident of Kampung Pulo," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the aftermath of the demonstration over the death of online motorcycle taxi driver (Ojol) Affan Kurniawan who was run over by a tactical vehicle (Rantis) Brimob led to mass riots that occurred in the East Jakarta area.

The demonstration that previously clashed in front of the Mako Brimob Polda Metro Jaya, precisely in Kwitang, Senen, Central Jakarta on Friday, August 29, then spread to the East Jakarta area.

A number of police stations in East Jakarta were targeted by an unknown mass tantrum on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the early hours of the morning.
