DPR's Pretext On WFH In The Middle Of The People Protests: Usually Field Visits

JAKARTA - The DPR RI building has been observed to be quiet since the implementation of the work from home (WFH) policy for ASN and TA within the DPR on Thursday, August 28, to coincide with demonstrations by workers and students. There was not even a working meeting held at the DPR RI, as usual.

The mass escalation on Thursday was indeed quite high. The mass of workers has packed the DPR building starting at 11.00 WIB, followed by hundreds of students at 14.00 WIB. However, conditions are getting hotter towards the evening, where one online motorcycle taxi driver became a victim as a result of being run over by Rantis Brimob.

When asked why last Thursday members of the DPR did not hold a meeting, Deputy Chairman of the DPR Baleg Martin Manurung argued that the council was indeed using it for field visits. Whereas in the previous week, the DPR RI continued to hold meetings as usual.

"I've never felt such a terrible (demonstration). It's just like this, maybe. If the Baleg is not like the commissions that have supervisory duties. If the commissions have supervisory duties. Maybe usually on Thursday there is also an allocation of usual field visits," said Martin Manurung at the Parliament Complex, quoted on Saturday, August 30.

"So there were more meetings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. It used to be like that. So Friday is a faction day. And also for electoral district visits. If anyone wants to go to the electoral district, it's usually Friday, Saturday, Sunday," he continued.

Meanwhile, in the midst of a large wave of demonstrations that took place at the Senayan DPR/MPR complex this week, a number of members of the DPR RI have returned to the spotlight.

Former Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Ahmad Sahroni, who is currently the monthly month of netizens, has been reported to have left the country since Wednesday, August 27. The NasDem Party politician is said to have fled to Singapore when the demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR was chaotic.

The news of Sahroni's whereabouts was revealed after a photo of himself circulating at an airport. The General Treasurer of the NasDem Party DPP seemed to be sitting relaxed in the waiting room, wearing an earphone, while playing on his cellphone. Next to him is a red suitcase.

Uploading the @gunnuclear X account also strengthens information on Sahroni's whereabouts. Sahroni has not been in Indo since two days ago. Singapore last, I don't know if to move again, "said the contents of the conversation shared by the account.

Apart from Sahroni, now it's Eko Patrio's turn to be abroad. The news began with the upload of the X @gunnuclear account which said Eko Patrio was in China.

It is known that this week's demonstration took place on Monday, August 25 and Thursday, August 28. However, the public's anger peaked when members of the DPR did not accept the aspirations of the demonstrators until the death of an ojol driver, Affan Kurniawan on Thursday night.

Until finally, the follow-up action was held on Friday, August 29 and was centered at Polda Metro Jaya and the DPR RI Building.
