Prabowo Visits Affan Kurniawan's Funeral Home

JAKARTA - Prabowo Subianto mourns Affan Kurniawan's funeral home, an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) who was the victim of a demonstration incident that occurred in Jakarta on Thursday (28/8) night.

Prabowo arrived at around 21.50 WIB, Friday, August 29. The President came wearing a creamy safari suit and a black skullcap. The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya also attended the funeral with the President.

Prabowo was at the funeral home for about 10 minutes. The Head of State did not provide a press statement to the media and immediately left the funeral home.

Reported by ANTARA, apart from Prabowo, it was also seen that the funeral homes were TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Wamendes PDT) Ahmad Riza Patria, and former Golkar Party politician Jusuf Hamka.

It is known that Affan Kurniawan (21), an online motorcycle taxi driver, died as a result of being run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle in the midst of a riot between demonstrators and police officers on Jalan Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, Thursday (28/8). The riots in Pejompongan occurred after various elements of society who held demonstrations around the parliament complex, were pushed back by the police.

The Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Pol Abdul Karim, revealed in the early hours of Friday that seven Brimob officers were suspected of being involved and were in the rantis and they are still in the process of being investigated.

The incident that killed Affan sparked a follow-up demonstration involving hundreds of community members and an online motorcycle taxi driver in front of Mako Brimob in Kwitang, Central Jakarta.
