Police Hospital Treats 31 Minor Injured Police Members To Operations Due To Chaos

JAKARTA - The Kramat Jati Police Hospital (RS), East Jakarta treated 31 police officers with minor injuries and had to undergo surgery due to chaotic acts on Thursday (28/8) in Jakarta.

"There are 31 people injured. All are being treated intensively and several operations will be carried out," said Head of Public Relations of the National Police Hospital, Kompol Yoan Hendri, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 29.

Yoan confirmed that the 31 people were members of the police who were on guard during the rioting.

"The 31 people are all members of the police, there is no community," said Yoan.

In addition, Yoan explained, the condition of the victims was various, ranging from minor injuries to some severe enough to require surgery.

"We are still carrying out intensive care for the victims, because some were injured, some were the worst, but we can't explain," said Yoan.

The National Police Chief, who was originally scheduled to visit the victims this Friday, canceled his attendance.

"The National Police Chief canceled his visit, maybe tomorrow (30/8), but at what time, I don't know yet," said Yoan.

The Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta previously also confirmed that no police officers had died due to chaos during the action on Thursday (28/8) in Jakarta.

"Until now, no one has died at the Police Hospital, both members of the National Police and the community. No one has died, everyone is alive and in a conscious condition," said Head of the Police Hospital Brigadier General Prima Heru Yulih at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta.

Prima said that the condition of the members who had been reported to be critical was now gradually improving.

"Yes, it has improved. No one has died, basically, what is clear is that no member has died," said Prima.

A number of elements from students and laborers held a demonstration in front of the DPR Building since Thursday (28/8) afternoon.

The initial action was conducive, but the situation started to heat up in the afternoon so the police had to push the crowd back until they were scattered to several points.
