Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan reminded the authorities in the persuasive field when dealing with demonstrations today.

This was conveyed by Budi Gunawan after the death of an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol), Affan Kurniawan, who was run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle on Thursday, August 28 evening. This incident occurred in the Pejompongan area, Jakarta.

"Aparat di lapangan agar lebih persuasif dan lebih humanis dalam mengamankan warga yang menyampaikan aspirasinya," kata Budi dalam keterangan tertulisnya, Jumat, 29 Agustus.

Budi Gunawan also expressed his gratitude to the orderly action participants. "And an apology to the people who were disturbed by their activities," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding Affan's death, Budi Gunawan expressed his condolences. He also confirmed that the investigation would be carried out.

"The government expresses its deep condolences for the death of Affan Kurniawan during last night's demonstration," he said.

"The government will investigate the incident and ensure the process is transparent," continued Budi.

For your information, the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM) SI and a number of student groups will take to the streets to hold demonstrations. The action will start from the FX Sudirman area, Central Jakarta.

After that, the masses will conduct a long march to the Polda Metro Jaya building.

This action was carried out after an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol), Affan Kurniawan, was run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle in the Pejompongan area on Thursday night, August 28.

He was taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) Jakarta and finally declared dead.
