JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto in the YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat expressed his condolences for the death of Affan Kurniawan, an ojol driver as a result of being run over by a Rantis Brimob Polda Metro Jaya car on Thursday night, August 28, 2025. President Prabowo admitted that he had followed developments on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

"I have followed developments last night (Thursday, August 28, 2025) where there was a demonstration that led to anarchic actions. There was also an incident where officers hit one ojol driver which resulted in the ojol driver, Affan Kurniawan, died last night." said President Prabowo, quoted by VOI from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube broadcast, Friday, August 29, 2025.

President Prabowo also said that the government would guarantee the lives of Affan Kurniawan's family and pay special attention to his parents, brothers and sisters.

"On behalf of myself and on behalf of the Indonesian government, I express my condolences and condolences. I am concerned and saddened by this incident. The government will guarantee the life of its family and will pay special attention to the parents of its brothers and sisters." he continued.

President Prabowo also appealed to the public to remain calm and give confidence to the government he is currently leading.
