Ojol Tewsas Driver Runs Over Rantis Brimbob, Kompolnas Ensures Transparent Handling

The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has confirmed that it will oversee the case of the death of an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) which was run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle to completion.

"Kompolnas is not a matter of being ready or not being ready. But Kompolnas will indeed oversee this case clearly," said Kompolnas member Muhammad Choirul Anam in Jakarta, Friday, confiscated by Antara.

He said he had met the victim's family, and they asked for justice for the death of the ojol driver during the chaotic demonstration.

Therefore, Cak Anam ensured that Kompolnas would oversee cases from initial to final processes, so that all could be monitored properly.

Moreover, he said, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has also committed to handling the case transparently.

"The National Police Chief stated that the handling of cases would be carried out transparently. For example, we will be given the widest possible access," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the National Police Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim confirmed that the handling of the case of a tactical vehicle that crashed and ran over an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) to death was carried out transparently.

"The examination was carried out quickly and transparently," he said while giving information to the media in Jakarta, Friday.

He said that the handling of the case was also carried out not only from the Propam Police Headquarters, but together with the Brimob Corps, considering that the perpetrators of the collision were members of Brimob.

Apart from the internal police, the handling of the case is also coordinated with the National Police Commission (Kompolnas). This is done to ensure that the handling of the case is transparent.

"We have also coordinated with Kompolnas to be able to involve ourselves and supervise, in some of the examination processes," he said.
