Prabowo: Food Production Rises Despite Dry Seasons And Climate Change

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said that national food production has increased even though Indonesia is facing a prolonged dry season and the impact of climate change.

"During a prolonged dry season, when climate change, when El Nino is followed by La Nina, we can produce extraordinary increases," said President Prabowo in a directive speech when opening the 2025 Autonomy Expo Application at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Banten, Thursday, August 28.

The President said this achievement could not be separated from the hard work of the line ministries with local governments, the TNI, and the Police.

Prabowo also highlighted the report of one of the regents who succeeded in diverting hundreds of billions of rupiah of budgets for the construction of new irrigation.

According to him, the move will irrigate tens of thousands of hectares of agricultural land in five years.

"If a district reports to me earlier, I managed to save Rp462 billion and the money was moved and allocated to make irrigation, to deal with dry season ... it's okay, this regent," said the President.

The head of state also emphasized that budget efficiency does not mean cutting regional transfers, but remains for the benefit of the people in the regions.

"So efficiency should not be interpreted as cutting regional transfers, regional transfers are direct and some are indirect, but all for the regions," he said.

"The MBG is in villages, MBG is in sub-districts, MBG is in regencies, and what we sent to the area this year is Rp. 171 trillion which will enter villages," he added.

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated and opened the Apkasi Autonomy Expo 2025: Trade, Tourism, Investment, and Procurement' exhibition at the International Convention Exhibition (ICE), BSD, Tangerang.

The Autonomy Expo 2025 application which will be held on August 28, 2025 is a commodity exhibition, investment products, procurement, and public services from district governments throughout Indonesia which are routinely held every year since 2005 by the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (Apkasi).
