Medical Data Reveals Civilians Of Israeli Militaryistic Victims In Gaza Alami Injured And Traumatized

JAKARTA - Victims of a bomb attack and gunfire by the Israeli military in annexing the Gaza region in Palestine resulted in the trauma or psychological injuries of injured civilians.

Data published in The Lancet's medical journal on Thursday, August 28, quoted by AN as saying Israel accounted for nearly half of the injured victims being treated at an outpatient clinic managed by Médecins Sans Frontières in Gaza in 2024.

Nearly a third of the injured patients as a result of the Israeli military attacks being treated there were children. According to the data, this fact is evidence of the adverse effects of the conflict that has lasted nearly two years on Palestinian civilians.

Six MSF-backed health centers, where data was collected, are mostly located in central and southern Gaza. More than 200,000 outpatient consultations were carried out at the facility during 2024.

While more than 90,000 of them involved injured victims, and nearly 40,000 of them were caused by "violent trauma", mainly caused by bombings, shootings, and gunshot wounds.

This has not covered the number of victims treated for other health services provided by the MSF, such as operating rooms, emergency rooms, and the number of victims killed at the site of the attack.

At two hospitals in Gaza, MSF staff found nearly 60 percent of the injuries to the lower leg, caused by explosive weapons.

"Often accompanied by open wounds to the bones, muscles, or skin," wrote the report of the medical journal The Lancet.

"Explosive weapons are designed for use on open battlefields, but are increasingly being used in urban areas," the report continued.

"Temporary shelters where people live after frequent evacuations provide almost no protection against explosive weapons, especially against side effects such as explosions, shrapnel, and the impact of arson," the report continued.

Israel's military attacks in Gaza have been described as an attempt to genocide by many organizations, governments and the international community.

Based on Palestinian Health Ministry data, as many as 63,000 Palestinians have died, about half of which are women and children, since Israel carried out its ground attack on Gaza in October 2023.
