Australia Denies Expeling Iranian Ambassador For Netanyahu Intervention

JAKARTA - Australia denies claims that Israeli intervention prompted Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's government to expel Iran's ambassador in Canberra. The expulsion was carried out by Australia because Iran was deemed to be involved in antisemites or anti Yayudi attacks. in Sydney and Melbourne.

"It's just empty," Australian Interior Minister Tony Burke told ABC Radio on Wednesday, August 27, quoted by Al Jazeera.

This affirmation was conveyed by Burke when asked about Israel's claim to be responsible for Australia's decision to order Tehran's ambassador, Ahmad Sadekhi, to leave the country.

Albanese said on Tuesday Australia had received credible intelligence information indicating the Iranian government had "directed" at least two attacks on the Australian Jewish community.

In response to a question from ABC about Australia's accusations against Iran, Israeli government spokesman David Mencer praised Australia for responding to a "serious threat" to the Jewish community, which he said emerged after "direct intervention" by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Minister of Commerce said Netanyahu made a direct statement to Albanese to act.

"He made the comments because he did not believe that the Australian government's actions were far enough to address the anti-Semitism issue," continued the Minister of Commerce.

Netanyahu last week accused Albanese of being a weak politician who betrayed Israel and ignored Australian Jews.

This allegation comes days after Albanese announced Australia would move to officially recognize the Palestinian state in September.

Meanwhile, Iran dismissed Australia's allegations of an antisemite attack. Iran stated the claim came after Australia directed limited criticism' against Israel.
