Coordinating Minister For IPK: Pantura Authority For The Solution To Protect The North Coast Of Java

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the presence of the North Coast Management Authority of Java (Pantura) was to protect the northern region of Java from tidal flooding to special economic zones (KEK).

According to him, the Authority Agency also aims to ensure the handling of coastal areas, including the construction of a giant sea embankment or Giant Sea Wall.

"We can protect the northern region of Java from tidal flooding, land subsidence, and people who live are also very at risk of facing various natural disasters, including industrial areas and special economic zones (SEZs) that we must also protect," said AHY after attending Indonesia Summit 2025 in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, August 27.

The Pantura Management Authority will be an extension of executive and operational, which will build a complete roadmap or roadmap.

AHY was appointed as Chair of the North Coast Management Authority of Java (Pantura), which is expected to coordinate in terms of five technical ministries such as the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, and the Ministry of Transmigration.

"We want to encourage and unite these steps because this is a big, long-term project, involving many stakeholders, including we need investment, and the involvement of leaders in the regions," he said.

The plan to build a giant sea wall will use a combination financing scheme between the government and business entities. The cooperation between the government and business entities is considered the most appropriate scheme. The proportion of funding will still be discussed further.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto appointed Vice Admiral TNI (Ret.) Didit Herdiawan Ashaf as Head of the North Coast Management Authority of Java (Pantura).

The appointment was held at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday morning, in accordance with Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 76P of 2025 concerning the Appointment of Heads and Deputy Heads of the North Coast Management Authority of Java.

Apart from Didit, the Head of State also inaugurated Darwin Trisna Djajawinata and Suhajar Diantoro as Deputy Heads of the North Coast Management Authority for Java.
