Bireuen District Attorney's Office Detains Psychotropic Tramadol Suspect

BANDA ACEH - The public prosecutor from the Bireuen District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Aceh Province, has detained AP, a suspect in a drug crime involving the psychotropic drug tramadol.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Bireuen District Attorney's Office, Wendy Yuhfrizal, stated that AP was detained after the public prosecutor received the transfer of responsibility for the case from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) in Banda Aceh.

"Suspect AP is being held at the Bireuen Class IIB Penitentiary. The suspect's detention is for the preparation of the indictment and for the upcoming trial," Wendy said in Bireuen, according to Antara, Tuesday, August 26.

He explained that the chronology of the case began when BPOM officers in Banda Aceh received information about a package suspected of containing tramadol sent by AP, identified as Ryan, in Bireuen Regency, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

BPOM officers then coordinated with the Bireuen Police Narcotics Investigation Unit to investigate the package's delivery. The package was delivered by a courier to Lueng Daneun, Peusangan Siblah Krueng District, Bireuen Regency, to an individual named Ryan.

Officers then apprehended Ryan and the package. An examination revealed the package contained 400 unlabeled pills suspected to be tramadol and 10 pills of riklona (clonazepam).

He said that based on the investigation, the drugs were sent by AP. Officers visited AP's home in Alue Krueb Village, Peusangan Siblah Krueng District, Bireuen Regency, to confirm the package's authenticity.

"AP confirmed the package belonged to him. Officers then searched AP's house and found tramadol and other drugs. AP was then taken to the Aceh Regional Police for further investigation," he said.

The evidence in the case included 440 tramadol pills, 23 pills of riklona, ​​27 pills of alprazolam, Dumolid and Eurofiss, as well as two drug sales books and a cell phone.

Wendy stated that suspect AP is suspected of violating Article 436 of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health and Article 62 of Law Number 5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropics.

"The public prosecutor will immediately prepare an indictment to transfer the case to the Bireuen District Court. The Bireuen District Attorney's Office is also preparing a team of public prosecutors to handle the case in court," said Wendy.
