JAKARTA - Demonstrations were held by Israelis in Tel Aviv ahead of the Israeli Security Cabinet meeting scheduled for tonight.

The demonstrators called for an end to the war in Gaza and the repatriation of the hostages who were carried out in this morning's mass action.

They held demonstrations near the United States (US) embassy office in Tel Aviv, as well as outside the homes of a number of ministers at many points in Israel.

"There is an offer on the table. We demand that our leaders sit at the negotiating table and not move until there is an agreement," said Hagit Chen, whose son was kidnapped by militants in October 2023, according to a statement released by a forum representing the families of the hostages, quoted from AFP.

The meeting of Israel's Security Cabinet is planned to take place tonight with the agenda of discussion still not officially disclosed.

However, local media reports said the meeting was likely to discuss re-negotiations for the ceasefire in Gaza and the agreement to release the hostages.

Previously, Israel's Security Cabinet approved the annexation of the Palestinian-owned Gaza City proposed by Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli PM's office revealed the approval of the full takeover of Gaza on Friday, August 8, 2025.
