Hipotermia Climber At Post 5 Climbing Mount Slamet Evacuated By SAR Team

The joint SAR team evacuated a climber from Jakarta who was suffering from hypothermia until he was unconscious while climbing Mount Slamet, Central Java.

Climber on behalf of Syayid Zahfat Murtado (26), a resident of Gambir, Jakarta, was successfully evacuated safely on Tuesday, at 12.15 WIB. The victim was then taken to the climbing post in Bambangan Hamlet, Kutawawa Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency.

"The climber was then taken to RSUD dr R Goeteng Taroendibrata, Purbalingga, for further treatment," said Head of Cilacap Basarnas M Abdullah in Central Java, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

Furthermore, he said that information regarding the presence of a climber who was suffering from hypothermia until he was unconscious was received by Basarnas Cilacap from a member of the victim's family, Alif, via telephone on Tuesday, August 26, at 02.15 WIB.

In this case, the climber was reported to have developed hypothermia and was unconscious while at Post 5 of the Mount Slamet Climbing Line via Bambangan at around 01.00 WIB.

Based on this information, his party immediately dispatched a Basarnas team from KPP Cilacap and the Banyumas SAR Alert Unit to the scene.

Arriving at the Mount Slamet Climbing Post, Bambangan Hamlet, his party immediately coordinated with the potential for local SAR and sent three teams to the Mount Slamet Climbing Line Post 5 to provide assistance.

"The team brought evacuation equipment and medical equipment for the initial handling of the victim before being taken down to the climbing post in Bambangan Hamlet," he explained.

In this regard, Abdullah appealed to climbers of Mount Slamet and other mountains to always pay attention to weather conditions, health, and complete equipment before climbing to minimize the risk of accidents.
