Yusril Make Sure: No Amnesty Discussion For Immanuel Ebenezer

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra said there had been no discussion in the government regarding the request for amnesty from the former Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan alias Noel.

He admitted that he knew that there was indeed a request for amnesty from the former Wamenaker when he was named a suspect in the alleged extortion case related to the management of work safety and health certificates (K3) within the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker).

"As far as I know, there is no process yet. I don't know yet, there has been no discussion about the matter," said Yusril when met at the University of Indonesia (UI), Depok, West Java, Monday, August 25, quoted from Antara.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believed that President Prabowo Subianto would not grant amnesty to the suspect and former Wamenaker.

"We believe this is like the state speech delivered by the President on the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia yesterday," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday.

According to Budi, President Prabowo's statement in his state speech showed the seriousness of the government's commitment to eradicating corruption.

"Therefore, returning to the essence of law enforcement is to provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators, and also to provide a sense of justice to the community," he said.

Moreover, he said, the KPK views that cases of alleged extortion in the management of K3 certificates within the Ministry of Manpower are detrimental to the community, namely the cost of Rp. 275 thousand to Rp. 6 million.

However, Budi said that the KPK understands that granting the amnesty is the prerogative of the president.

On August 22, 2025, the KPK named Immanuel Ebenezer along with 10 other people as suspects in the alleged extortion case related to the management of K3 certificates within the Ministry of Manpower.

The man who is familiarly called Noel is called the KPK who received Rp 3 billion and one two-wheeled vehicle with the Ducati brand.

On the same date, Noel hopes to get amnesty from President Prabowo Subianto. However, he was instead removed from his position as wamenaker by the president.
