JAKARTA - Fighters from North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted Russian aircraft in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) for the third time in the past week.
One E-3 Sentry command and control aircraft, two F-16 fighter jets, and two KC-135 Stratotanker fighter jets were deployed to intercept and visually identify Russian Il-20 reconnaissance and reconnaissance aircraft operating in ADIZ Alaska, NORAD said.
The Russian plane remains in international airspace and does not enter the airspace of the United States or Canada.
"Russian activity in ADIZ Alaska occurs periodically and is not considered a threat," continued NORAD.
