Allegedly Corruption In The Rp7.5 Billion Building Project, ASN In Wakatobi Becomes A Suspect

The Wakatobi District Attorney (Kejari) has named a state civil servant (ASN) with the initials MTF as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the construction project of the Marine and Fisheries Community Academy (AKKP) building in Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

The project, which was carried out in 2015, is in Matahora Village, South Wangiwangi District, and cost Rp7.5 billion in budget attached to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia.

"We named the MTF as a suspect and immediately detained him at the Kendari Detention Center," said Wakatobi Prosecutor's Investigator, Eric Cahyo, when contacted from Kendari, Antara, Friday, August 22.

The determination of the suspect was carried out after investigators conducted an intensive examination of MTF at the Kendari Kejari Office, Thursday, August 21. After that, MTF was immediately taken to the Kendari State Detention Center (Rutan) to serve a period of detention.

MTF is known to have served as a Commitment Making Officer (PPK) on the AKKP building construction project. Allegations of corruption arose because the development process was not in accordance with the agreed work contract.

"For this case, the building cannot be used. It is suspected that the construction process is not in accordance with the contract," said Head of the Special Crimes Section of the Wakatobi Kejari, Maghfiranisa Azizah.

The AKKP building, which was supposed to be an educational and training facility for the marine and fisheries sector, has so far been abandoned and has not been able to function.

Maghfiranisa added that investigators are still investigating this case and examining a number of additional witnesses. It is possible that the number of suspects will increase along with the progress of the investigation.

"We have examined about 40 witnesses. We are still investigating," he said.
