300 Hectares Of Land In North Sumatra's North Padang Lawas Affected By Forest And Land Fires

The Center for Disaster Management Operations Control (Pusdalops PB) of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) noted that around 300 hectares of land in North Padang Lawas Regency, were affected by forest and land fires (karhutla).

Based on a report by Pusdalops on Thursday, Antara, the forest and land fires occurred in Batang Onang and Padang Bolak sub-districts.

Forest and land fires in Batang Onang District occurred on Wednesday, July 20, while Padang Bolak District occurred on Tuesday, July 19.

Pusdalops noted that the area of land affected by forest and land fires in Padang Bolak District was around 300 hectares.

Meanwhile, the area of forest and land affected in Batang Onang District is being collected.

Pusdalops said the number of refugees, injured victims, or dead from the incident was nil.

Head of the Emergency, Equipment and Logistics Handling Division of the North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati said various efforts and handling had been made.

"Local governments and related policy makers make various efforts, including coordinating and conducting assessments," he said

Based on a report from the North Sumatra PB Pusdalops, the current condition of the fire from forest and land fires in the two sub-districts is being extinguished.

"The joint team is still at the affected location extinguishing the fire," he said.
