Toddlers In Sukabumi Died Filled Withworms, KPAI Urges Child Care Bill To Be Ratified

JAKARTA - Raya (4) residents of Padangenyang Village, Cianaga Village, Kabandungan District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, died with a body condition filled with worms.

In fact, the results of the CT scan show that eggs and worms have spread to his brain. Raya died on July 22, 2025.

Raya is known to have come from an underprivileged family. The father was in a sick condition, while his mother had a mental disorder.

They live in a simple booth house, with the bottom of the house filled with chicken droppings, which is thought to be a source of infection.

Initially, Raya was found in critical condition and was hospitalized. However, various attempts to seek medical assistance were fruitless.

During the treatment, the living worms were removed from his body to weigh 1 kilogram.

This incident received special attention from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).

Deputy Chairperson of KPAI, Jasra Putra said, there needs to be joint efforts to push back the joint initiative regarding the Child Care Bill. For this reason, KPAI urges the Child Care Bill to be a priority so that it is immediately legalized, even though it has been 15 years fought for at the legislative table.

"Because there is no policy that can touch children, who are under the care of ODGJ families," said Jasra Putra when confirmed, Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Jasra said that families who have special needs and are vulnerable to omission in the community, the state must also attend.

"There must be a call for all of us, that Indonesian children like Raya need more systemic policies, affirmations and accommodating special needs. This policy must be ensured through the ratification of the Child Care Bill," he said.

So, continued Jasra, the issue of the population number does not close the situation for children who really need help.

"Because children cannot protect themselves in families like this, especially children aged 3 years. Children are generally easily controlled both physically, psychologically, understanding, emotionally, psychologically," he said.

According to KPAI, the state must have a system that can force RT RW to have a perspective to be present to represent the country, with the family situation ODGJ, Lung, TB.

"That there is a situation of parenting that is very vulnerable, even to death. This is not the first time this has happened in Indonesia. Let's legalize the Child Care Bill," he said.
