Prabowo: The Dream Of Independence Is To Be Free From Poverty, Hunger, And Suffering

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto in his inaugural state speech at the MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in Jakarta, Friday, August 15, reiterated that the purpose of the Republic of Indonesia's independence is to escape poverty and hunger.

Therefore, according to President Prabowo, Indonesia must be able to stand on its own feet and must be sovereign in all fields.

"Our goal of independence is to be free from poverty to be free from hunger, free from suffering. Our country must be able to stand on its own feet. Our country must be economically sovereign and able to meet its own food needs," President Prabowo said in front of thousands of invited guests, who are members of the council, state officials, and community leaders.

President Prabowo is confident and optimistic that Indonesia will be able to realize the food self-sufficiency vision because Indonesia is awarded abundant resources.

"Our challenge is to maintain and manage our wealth so that our ideals of independence can be realized in the shortest possible time," said President Prabowo.

The Annual Session of the MPR RI in 2025, the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI in 2025, and the State Speech of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the Context of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence was held at the Nusantara Building, MPR Complex, DPR, DPD RI, Jakarta, Friday. The event was attended by more than 600 members of the council, Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka, ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, a number of public figures, representatives of friendly countries, and leaders of political parties.

In the same event, the 7th President Joko Widodo, the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, the 11th Vice President Boediono, the 13th Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin also attended the 2025 MPR RI Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI, and heard directly the State Speech of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the Context of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the ranks of ministers and deputy ministers who attended the agenda of the MPR Annual Session and heard directly the State Speech of President Prabowo, including Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Community Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Then, there is also Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono.

The agenda of the Annual Session of the MPR RI began with an opening speech from the Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani, then followed by an introductory speech for the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD RI by the Chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani. After two introductory speeches, there was a video showing about the implementation of priority programs and achievements of the government of President Prabowo Subianto.

After President Prabowo delivered his State Speech, the event was continued with the presentation of Nusantara songs, and the session was closed by the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
