Deputy Governor Emil Dardak: Increase In UN P2 Authority Of Regents-Mayors

SIDOARJO - Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak explained that the increase in Rural and Urban Land and Building Taxes (PBB P2) is the authority of each regional head, namely the local regent and mayor.

Emil explained that before there was an increase in PBB P2 such as the one that went viral in Jombang Regency, the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) was obliged to re-appraisalize taxable objects according to today's value.

"The authority rests with each regional head. The mechanism is that Bapenda will reassess the tax object according to today's land value, this is what makes the public surprised by the amount of tax that must be paid," Emil said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 14.

According to Emil, although local income from taxes is very much needed by local governments (Pemda) for development, the increase in taxes must also be seen in the condition of the local community.

He emphasized that there is another mechanism for the community to appeal the increase in PBB P2 in order to reach the middle point between the community as taxpayers and also local governments.

"The important thing is that the appeal mechanism is reached by a middle point that does not burden the community, but the local government also gets the appropriate tax value," said Emil.

In addition, Emil also emphasized that the increase in PBB P2 in Jombang was a policy from the previous regional government.

He hopes that soon there will be a common ground between the government and the community regarding the amount of PBB P2 value in order to maintain regional economic stability.

"What happened in Jombang can happen in other areas. The Regent of Jombang has also explained that this is a policy from the previous regent so we must be careful and explore existing data," said Emil.
